Chairman’s Message

At the last meeting of Trustees, next year’s budget was top of the agenda.  Decisions about the Hire Rates for 2012 were necessary to inform in advance the 50 groups who regularly meet at the Community Centre of any increase they might expect.  As a result of the additional income from the new meeting room, the Coffee Shop and other successful fund raising, the hire charges will remain the same as for 2011.

Future developments at the Community Centre were also discussed with eventual agreement to continue improving and adding to the facilities at the Community Centre.   The wish list included:

· Extending the office (now very necessary with the increased activity);

· Installation of air-conditioning equipment on the 1st floor;

· Additional Mobility Scooter parking and improved access under a canopy;

· Converting the doors at the entrance to automatically open;

· A new ceiling mounted projector (now installed);

· More secure storage in the Hall store (completed); and

· Renew  all carpet tiles where necessary (quotes now being obtained).

The Dorcan Guides and Brownies group have recently joined us at the Lawn.  This is another giant step forward.  We have for a long time tried to attract younger groups and are delighted juniors from lawn have already joined the new group.  It is very refreshing to see for the first time the many young mums, dads, uncles and aunts using the Centre.

Tentative plans are in hand for the Royal Diamond Celebration next year.  This may include a Pig Roast, Band Concert, Children’s Party with Jelly, clowns, Punch and Judy and other entertainments on the Green.   If anyone is interested in helping with the planning and involvement on the day, please contact me at the Centre.

Coverage of the Olympics in the Hall with our new theatre-quality projection equipment is also being planned.                                                                                                                                             Alan Nix, LCA Chairman
