EDITI0N:
3rd June 2020
INTRODUCTION
At the time of writing, the Lawn Community Centre is still closed owing to the current Covid-19 pandemic-related lockdown. We are therefore sorry to be unable to produce the usual 1500 printed copies of this edition of the LCA Newsletter which would normally be due for distribution to members at this time of the year.
Instead, to provide members with interim information, a shortened version is being made available on notice boards fronting the Lawn Community Centre building and to read or download on our website.
The latest Government review of lockdown rules is due on Thursday, 18th June. The LCA Committee will then consider the effect on the Community Centre and post any relevant information by the same method.
Annual General Meeting
of Lawn Community Association
and approval of accounts
We have not been able to hold our usual Annual General Meeting where we would present the Accounts for 2019 together with other reports on the Association's activities due to the current restrictions on gatherings.
The Accounts have been Independently Examined and will be presented at the AGM in due course.
Owing to the current Government restrictions we are unable to set a date for the AGM. However, all of our existing Trustees are willing to remain in office until we are able to hold our AGM.
Chairman’s Message
Hello it is nice to be able to greet you once again. Unfortunately due to the current lockdown situation we are unable to welcome you into our Community Centre. I hope that during these restrictions you are managing to enjoy your new mode of living, as I am. Although we are unable to use our Community Centre at present, due to keeping a safe distance apart, we have attempted to remain in contact with as many of our more vulnerable Members as possible.
We understand that some of the groups that hire our facilities are also in touch with each other. I believe that we as a nation react incredibly when all seems to be against us.
Whilst our Centre is closed to the public and to our hirers, we have been intensely cleaning everything inside the building in order to ensure that it remains predominantly one of the best Community centres in Swindon. We as a committee are looking forward to the day we can welcome you back. Meanwhile STAY SAFE.
Bob Jackson, Chairman, LCA
On behalf of LCA, Thank you to . . .
All the dedicated essential workers keeping our members regularly provided with necessary goods and services:
According to feedback from members, Lawn residents are being even more resilient and supportive to each other during this time. This has been helped by our Thursday night appreciation and VE Day celebrations giving us a welcome outlet for communication with neighbours.
It is good to know that some of our groups and hirers are finding ways to keep activities going for members in new ways.
There is an orange box of books outside the front door (hopefully keeping dry under the canopy) for all to take and/or add to. These are regularly replenished. PLEASE WEAR GLOVES WHEN LOOKING THROUGH THEM IF YOU CAN.
